Today, a historical marker at 6th and Chestnut streets in Philadelphia honors those early acts of courage — thanks to the advocacy of Philadelphia native Mark Segal. A Stonewall-era activist, Segal helped establish the Gay Liberation Front Philadelphia and went on to found “Philadelphia Gay News,” amplifying LGBTQIA+ voices and milestones for decades.
