Moving east, the Rocky Mountains are made up of seven distinct mountain ranges and many of the country's highest peaks. The Continental Divide runs along the crests of the ranges, and the headwaters of four major rivers are found here. Farther eastward, nestled where the mountains gently slope down and transition to the eastern plains, the Front Range is home to Denver and many of the state’s most populous cities. The easternmost portion of Colorado is quite flat. As part of the nation's Great Plains, the area is known primarily for its grassland, lakes and reservoirs, and farmland. 36 Strasburgain Byers Deer Trail THE 71 59 R iv ubl i ca n e r Agate th Rep Vona Kiowa 86 70 Genoa EASTERN Arriba Flagler Seibert Stratton Bethune Burlington 385 KANSAS Elbert Simla Calhan Ramah 24 Limon Hugo PLAINS 287 40 59 est Gods Paint Mines Interpretive Park Rush Punkin Center 94 94 40 do Springs Airport Kit Carson Cheyenne Wells 71 287 Haswell 96 Eads 96 Pueblo Memorial Airport Boone Avondale 96 Olney Springs Ordway Crowley Sugar City Great Plains Reservoir Systemarasrvoir Systemarasrvoir 385 Lake Meredith Cheraw Swink 194 Wiley S ve r R I V E R Forthe Fortver Fordle Fordle 10 Fowler Manzanola Las Animas 50 Arkansas River 196 Hartman Holly Bent’s Old V A L L E La Junta Y River 350 Ri Rocky John Martin Reservoir Lamar 287 385 Granada AMACHE NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE 89 109 116 Airports Hot Springs National Monument National Park Ski Area State Parks Point of Interest gueblodosnne Thatcher Purgatoire COMANCHE NATIONAL GRASSLAND Springfield Pritchett Villas Walsh 25 Kim 160 Trinidadenbur Starkville Raton Pass 7,834' 160 COMANCHE NATIONAL GRASSLAND Campo Historic Train Route OKLA.
