FARSON & EDEN VALLEY Now home to thriving farming and ranching communities, Farson and the Eden Valley once served as a main thoroughfare for passing travelers and settlers. Then, in 1907, John M. Farson’s large-scale irrigation development attracted long-term residents with the promise of fertile lands and lush fruit orchards. Nowadays, the area offers visitors an abundance of outdoor activities, from hiking and biking the Mormon and Oregon trails to camping, stargazing and boating at Big Sandy Reservoir. Plus, no trip to Farson and Eden Valley is complete without a stop at Farson Mercantile for a famous Big Cone ice cream. SUPERIOR Fueled by the booming times of the Union Pacific Coal Mines, this town was once home to nine working mines and led the West in coal production. While the town’s mining days are gone, you’ll still feel that Western spirit when you visit. Learn about local coal-mining and town history at the Superior Museum, hike scenic Continental Divide trails or see one of the navigation arrows formerly used by early 1900s airmail pilots. 6
