MAIN STREET SQUARE, RAPID CITY Photo by Visit Rapid City Planning Your Vacation If you’re staying for a few days or even a month, you’ll want to make sure you see it all I-90 • Badlands • Wall Pine Ridge It takes a few days to soak up everything this region has to offer. We recommend making room in your itinerary so that you can have, at minimum, two days for Badlands National Park, and two days to explore the I-90 region and Pine Ridge area. Northern Hills The Northern Hills are full of exciting adventures. Depending on your planned activities, you’ll want to plan on taking scenic drives, hiking, and exploring. Of course, treat yourself to fine dining and gaming. To visit places like Deadwood, Lead, Spearfish, Sturgis, Whitewood, and Belle Fourche, plan on spending more than a weekend in this region. Southern Hills Visitors can expect a full itinerary when it comes to the Southern Hills. With sites like Crazy Horse Memorial ® and the quaint Main Street of Custer, you’ll want to plan on spending a minimum of two days here. Custer State Park can be enjoyed for vast stretches of time, so be sure to explore the park for at least two days. Wind Cave and Jewel Cave are also incredible sites, so be sure to spend a day exploring these magical underground escapes as well. After your adventures, spend a day of relaxation in Hot Springs to rest up! Black Hills of Wyoming The Black Hills of Wyoming are closer than you might think. In order to visit the iconic Devils Tower and surrounding museums, be sure to plan a leisurely three days or more in this region. Add Newcastle, Upton, Osage, and Sundance to your itinerary for a full experience. Central Hills Rapid City, Hill City, and Keystone can all be enjoyed for weeks on end, but if you only have a week in your vacation budget, plan to spend at least one-to-two days exploring each town or city and visiting Mount Rushmore National Memorial.
