A highlight for visitors is the exhibit “Mdewakanton: Dwellers of the Spirit Lake,” which focuses on the Mdewakanton Dakota people and their history. The tour is a multisensory experience covering art, culture, language and beyond. GIIWEDINONG TREATY RIGHTS & CULTURE MUSEUM In Park Rapids, this enlightening museum, whose name means “homecoming” to the Anishinaabe people, explores the history, art and culture of Indigenous people, including Ojibwe and Dakota artists and Water Protectors. Come away with a greater understanding of treaties and covenants, language, art, the land and constitutional rights, and learn how change is being made.
