The center secured the GBAC STAR facility accreditation from the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC), a division of ISSA, the leading trade association for the cleaning industry worldwide. The center was the fi rst convention center in the United States to implement BIOPROTECT™ by SurfaceGuard, a NASA developed technology designed to kill COVID-19. EVENT Walter E. Washington Convention Center The Walter E. Washington Convention Center demonstrates ongoing dedication to safety protocols and cleaning measures. • • • Enhanced sanitization practices include continuously cleaning all high-contact surfaces throughout the day and installing additional hand sanitizer stations throughout the building. Cutting-edge disinfection technology uses NanoSeptic, a light-powered, self-cleaning surface product placed on high-tra c touch points. Revised food and beverage services include increasing packaged grab-and-go options, eliminating reusable cups, removing self-serve condiments and utensils and increasing frequency of cleaning in high-tra c areas.
