Fast forward to the present day, and everyone from beer nerds to casual fans won’t have any trouble discovering future favorite craft breweries and brewpubs throughout the area. In fact, there are currently over 50-plus locally owned and community-focused breweries in the “Gulp Coast,” including many pet-and family-friendly options. NORTH REGION TARPON SPRINGS, PALM HARBOR & DUNEDIN DUNEDIN BREWERY, DUNEDIN • Our local craft beer scene started here. Florida’s oldest microbrew-ery handcrafts their beers in small batches (15 barrels at a time) and also brews an extensive seasonal selection. Must-try: Apricot Peach Ale. FIVE BRANCHES BREWING, TARPON SPRINGS • Located in the Historic Sponge Docks District, this veteran-owned brewery recently took home the gold award in the 2022 World Beer Cup. Must-try: Doggin Wrench Imperial Stout. STILT HOUSE BREWERY, PALM HARBOR • This bike-accessible spot along the Pinellas Trail offers over 30 unique beers, plus wine and cider. Must-try: Montagne Noir (Black Lager). 7VENTH SUN BREWERY, DUNEDIN • What’s on the menu? Damn good small-batch India pale ales, oak-aged sours, barrel-aged ales, saisons and more. Must-try: Scientist IPA. CALEDONIA BREWING, DUNEDIN • Housed in an old newspaper building, Caledonia pays homage to Dunedin’s Celtic heritage in an atmospheric tasting room. Must-try: QuadDrePhenia (Belgian-style Quadrupel). TWO FROGS BREWING COMPANY, TARPON SPRINGS • This father/son nanobrewery radiates charm in an old pharmacy building that dates back to 1895. Must-try: Dream Pop (Tangerine Vanilla Wheat). WOODWRIGHT BREWING, DUNEDIN • Grab a seat at the bar, upstairs in the loft or outside in the beer garden during a bluegrass jam at this craft brewery-meets-wood-shop hybrid. Must-try: Dunkelweizen. CENTRAL REGION SAFETY HARBOR, CLEARWATER, LARGO & SEMINOLE SOUTHERN LIGHTS BREWING CO., CLEARWATER • Savor carefully crafted small-batch ales and lagers at this easygoing brewery. Must-try: Happy Accidents (Berliner Weisse). RAPP BREWING COMPANY, SEMINOLE • This brewery has an array of artisanal, German-centric lagers and ales, plus a pet-friendly annex game room.
