A remarkable example of the Creole style of French architecture along Cane River, the home was constructed with hand-hewn cypress held together by a mixture of mud, Spanish moss and animal hair. Close by at Frogmore Plantation , you’ll find 19 restored historic structures you can tour while learning about both historic and modern cotton-making processes. In New Orleans, Dooky Chase’s Restaurant opened its doors in 1941 and soon became a hot spot to enjoy music and discuss the Civil Rights issues of the day.
