The Lake Dillon Theatre Company has a new home at the Silverthorne Performing Arts Center if you’re up for more mountain culture. The Friday Dillon Farmers Market is a must for delicious fare and entertainment — and one of the most stunning backdrops in the world. Or head over to Copper Mountain, where a scenic chairlift can take you to a mountaintop restaurant or to a downhill mountain-bike course or rugged hike. Run the kids blissfully ragged on the zipline, mountain bikes, a mountain coaster, bumper boats, yoga, guided hikes and more. Winter Fun Keystone, Breckenridge, Copper Mountain and Arapahoe Basin are four reasons Summit County is a top winter destination. A short trek up scenic I-70 from Denver, find all types of ski terrain, as well as tubing, sleigh and dog-sledding rides, snowmobiling, ice skating and Nordic trails. A groomed path also links Breckenridge with the Frisco Adventure Park for cross-country skiing and winter fat biking. Go car-free in walkable, public-transit-friendly Breckenridge, which boasts a vibrant local food and beverage scene. Grab breakfast at one of the more than 70 independently owned restaurants. Then, hop on your mountain bike and hit the trails; many are converted wagon routes and mining paths. If you prefer pavement, the Ten Mile Recreational Pathway is named for the adjacent mountain range; the 24-mile paved path connects to the 55-mile Summit County Recreational Path. Or race down the slopes on the Gold Runner Coaster alpine track or Alpineer Challenge Course and up the Gold Summit Climbing Wall, part of the Epic Discovery program at Breckenridge Ski Resort. An expansive network of hiking and mountain-bike trails is also accessible right from town. Enrich the mind and soothe the soul with a nature hike led by Summit Nature Guides. In the afternoon, visit downtown Breckenridge, where boutiques tempt with everything from designer cupcakes to designer jeans as well as imported olive oils and cigars in a 200-structure historic district.
