FREDERICK Frederick has long been at the crossroads of history, art, and music. It has seen pre-Columbian Indian trade routes, Confederate and Union troops, and more recently, a burgeoning art and music scene. I loved the mural of jazz legend Lester Bowie playing his trumpet over Market Street. CASSELMAN BRIDGE When built in 1813, this river bridge’s 80-foot span made it the longest stone arch in America. First used by the Conestoga wagons of a bygone era, the bridge now takes you to the shops and restaurants at Spruce Forest Artisan Village. HIGH COUNTRY CREAMERY Housed within a quintessentially American red barn, you’ll find hundreds of perfectly aged cheddar wheels in High Country’s on-site aging rooms and can sample the wares for yourself at Farmer’s Table Eatery.
