MOUNT CARMEL MONASTERY Established in 1790, less than 15 years after the American Revolution, the first religious community of women in the United States flourished here. Overlooking the Port Tobacco Valley, the restored monastery and chapel are a popular Catholic pilgrimage site. POINT LOOKOUT STATE PARK Located on a peninsula between the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay, we loved learning about the park’s storied past at the on-site museum and were blown away by all of the opportunities for camping, fishing, boating, swimming, biking, and more. It’s even considered one of the most haunted places in the country, but luckily we didn’t see any ghosts. PORT OF LEONARDTOWN WINERY Owned and operated by a cooperative of 12 Maryland vineyards, the variety and quality of these local wines can’t be beat.
