The Lakota phrase “Aktá Lakota” translates to “honoring the people.” Located on the campus of St. Joseph’s Indian School, the museum strives to preserve and promote the culture and heritage of the Lakota people. From the moment you enter the museum, you will experience a living lesson on the Lakota through historical exhibits and contemporary art that reflect the past and present of the people.
