STRIDE exists to help families like Marina’s. Marina is an uninsured single mother of two children, River and Arianthe, who recently moved to Colorado from Germany. Marina knew something was different about her son, but couldn’t find the medical care he needed in Germany. “We had to start all over again when we got here,” she shared. “[But] the team at STRIDE has helped me navigate the system and get the right resources…thanks to their caring providers, we finally got an official diagnosis for my son. [Now,] we are in a really good place.” STRIDE was founded in 1989 in response to the growing need for affordable and accessible medical, behavioral health, and dental care among low-income, uninsured, and underserved communities. For over 30 years, STRIDE has provided primary care and other health-related services in a community-based setting. The health centers operate on a sliding-fee scale with prices based on income, and no families or individuals are turned away because of their inability to pay. They also accept Medicaid, Medicare and some private insurance. STRIDE currently operates 16 health center locations across the greater Denver metro area. These include several locations in Aurora, as well as locations in Arvada, Lakewood, and Golden. Several additional locations are also in the planning stages.
