Resilience is the ability to recover quickly from difficulties. 2020 was the ultimate test of resilience for businesses, communities and individuals. Chambers of commerce across Colorado served as leaders in supporting the shifts that were critical to sustaining long-term success for business. This is not a role that is taken lightly by chamber leaders. We recognize that it is incumbent on us to communicate, advocate and innovate. One business voice makes a splash, but thousands of voices make waves. This is the power of a chamber. When we work together with our businesses, we can create the change that is needed to keep a thriving economy. It has been an honor to serve as the chair of ACCC over the past year. I am grateful for the collaboration, support and most importantly friendship that has come as we faced these uncharted waters. This year has forced change, but I believe that much of that change will allow chambers and the businesses we serve to be more resilient, thoughtful and impactful. Opportunity awaits! President, Arvada Chamber of Commerce ACCC Board Chair Kami Welch Welcome to the first edition of the Association of Colorado Chambers of Commerce (ACCC) publication! I first joined ACCC a month into my new role as the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce executive director. Fast forward eight years and I am your ACCC board chair-elect. This organization has helped me expand my career and provided me with resources, mentors and friendships to last a lifetime! Did you know that chambers of commerce throughout Colorado represent over 50,000 businesses and over 1 million employees? We are catalysts, conveners and champions! We are chamber strong! My word for 2021 is perseverance. The phrase, ‘“This is a marathon, not a race” really resonates with me as it relates to my chamber career. I am a distance runner, qualified and ran the Boston Marathon in 2013. So much training and buy-in is necessary to complete this prestigious 26.2-mile race. It takes commitment from not only the runner, but also from friends and family. The same goes for chambers! We have put in the miles to get us where we are today, and beyond! We have the tools and networks, support staff, board of directors and membership to reach the finish line to accomplish our goals. There is no question that we have been through a lot this past year, but we are chamber strong! We have prepared for this! We will persevere!
