Lower Susquehanna The Mighty Susquehanna, the river that feeds the Chesapeake Bay, is truly an American treasure. With sweeping views, waterfront towns steeped in maritime history and extraordinary birding, paddling, and fishing spots, the Lower Susquehanna Byway is a wonder to explore. Visit Havre de Grace for antiques shops, fishing, boating, waterfront dining, and museums exploring rich maritime traditions. Relax and enjoy the Bay at Tydings Park. There, a waterfront promenade leads to the fully restored Concord Point Lighthouse. Susquehanna State Park—also in Havre de Grace— offers camping, mountain biking, fishing, and birding. You’ll also want to spend time exploring the Lower Susquehanna Heritage Greenway Trail. In Port Deposit, a 75-step staircase leads visitors to a spectacular view of four bridges crossing the Susquehanna River. A riverwalk at Tome’s Landing also features terrific waterfront vistas and wonderful seafood—worth a picture and a pit stop.
