Look for South Dakota’s interstate welcome centers, including two stops on I-29: the Homestead Welcome Center near Vermillion and the Wilmot Welcome Center north of Summit. Both centers were reconstructed and expanded in 2019 to include more room for connecting visitors with tourism and travel information, and each features a new exhibit that shares interesting information on South Dakota’s story. The architecture of the Wilmot Welcome Center mimics the state’s rolling Coteau des Prairies geography, while the architecture of the Homestead Welcome Center calls to mind a prairie homestead.
