ATTRACTIONS OLD TOWN USA FUN SPOT AMERICA Two of the area’s classic, smaller-scale attractions offer up a world of amusement. AND Old Town Kissimmee Mine Blower Coaster at Old Town Kissimmee Old-School Cool Parents love the classic car cruises, eclectic shopping and 1950’s nostalgia (not to mention craft beer nights every Wednesday) at Old Town Kissimmee , a walkable attraction that resembles a classic, turn-of-the-century Florida town. But for kids, Old Town Kissimmee’s all about the amusements, including a brand new, Italian-style Ferris Wheel , shows at The Great Magic Hall , and the Mortem Manor Haunted Attraction . Kids here can also dress up for an old-fashioned portrait, mine for gold at Black Market Minerals , and test their skills at the arcade and shooting alley. There are concerts on the main stage, family movies on a huge inflatable screen, plus a tilt-a-whirl, carousel, and other carnival rides, managed by Fun Spot America, the amusement park right next door. All 13 of Old Town Kissimmee’s eateries are super kid-friendly. Try the newest offering, Froggers Bar & Grill , and after, treat the kids to dessert at Sweet Dreams Ice Cream Cafe , a 1950’s-style ice cream parlor. As of this spring, parents can treat themselves at Old Town Kissimmee’s new centerpiece—the open-air, circular Carousel Bar , just one feature of Old Town Kissimmee’s ongoing $20 million revitalization, beautification, and expansion project. Daredevil Adventures Do your kids love flinging through the Florida sky at top speed? Head to Fun Spot America , a classic amusement park known for awesome thrill rides, a hometown fair atmosphere, and U.S. patented, multi-level go-kart tracks. Thereʼs a Fun Spot amusement park in both Kissimmee (adjacent to Old Town) and Orlando. While the parks are favorites of adrenaline junkies, there are rides here for little kids as well, plus arcades and midways. This summer, Fun Spot America-Kissimmee unveiled its newest ride, the Mine Blower Coaster , Florida’s first wooden roller coaster to go upside down. Its stats include a 360-degree barrel roll, an 82-foot initial drop, and a top speed of 49 mph. In the Kissimmee park, bungee jump aficionados also flip over the 300-foot Worldʼs Tallest SkyCoaster . Not to be undone, Fun Spot America-Orlando offers thrill-seekers (42 inches tall or taller) a SkyCoaster , too—the world’s second tallest. Also here: the Freedom Flyer , a steel, suspended inverted coaster where riders can opt for a virtual reality experience; the wooden roller coaster White Lightning ; and Gator Spot , home to huge alligators, including a rare white gator.
