THEME PARKS A GRAND ADVENTURE AT SEAWORLD ORLANDO ® By Marisa Langford My family of six piled into the car and we headed to SeaWorld ® Orlando , anticipating a day full of excitement and adventure. Once we arrived, my youngest girls, Shelby, 7, and Abby, 4, led the way into the park and, maps in hand, began rattling off all the things they wanted to experience— from animal encounters to exciting new shows. My older kids, Jake, 13, and Mia, 12, couldn’t stop talking about the thrilling roller coasters they had their hearts set on riding! We started off with the Dolphin Encounter and were captivated by the chance to feed the dolphins, touch their silky smooth skin, and learn about their behaviors and habitats. Next up was the Pets Ahoy show—as an animal-loving family, we were totally smitten by the stars who had been rescued from all over the country. The kids immediately starting making plans to teach our pets some of the tricks they saw. Over in Pacific Pointe Preserve , Abby couldn’t believe that Sea Lions eat such stinky fish (she held her nose) but thought their antics in Clyde and Seamore’s Sea Lion High show were hilarious! She couldn’t stop laughing. We cooled off on the “wild expedition” ride— Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin . (Shelby mentioned that she wished she had brought mittens.) The journey took us through lands of snow and ice, and at the end, we came face to face with the “well-dressed” inhabitants of these frosty settings. What an amazing treat! My oldest two were beyond excited to plunge into Shark Wreck Reef and experience Mako ® for the first time. As we made our way to the tallest, longest, and fastest hyper coaster in Orlando, my husband, Chance, took the little ones to the Shark Encounter ®, an immersive underwater shark tank. 18 Kissimmee Destination Magazine 2018
