Check out these farmers’ markets for the freshest farm foods, creative crafts and authentic heartland experiences. Each market mentioned is seasonal and takes place on Saturday morning. In Scottsbluff, from June to September, local farmers assemble at the 18th Street Farmers’ Market . Here you can pick up certified organic produce, local beef, pastured poultry, eggs, pork, lamb and much more. From October to March on select Saturdays at The Village Garden, the Scottsbluff Winter Farmers Market takes over for the winter months and offers local art, hand-made items, fresh seasonal produce and locally raised meats. On Main Street in downtown Alma, from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend, artisans display a wide variety of fresh produce, baked goods, jams and jellies, candies, and hand-made items at the Alma Farmers’ Market . Visit the Bellevue Farmers’ Market in mid-May to mid-September, when dozens of vendors bring their crafty creations, marvelous meats and savory sweets to market. And in Nebraska’s largest city, the Omaha Farmers Market promotes local food at the Old Market with dozens of vendors.
