Smithsonian Arts and Industries Building HOST YOUR SPECIAL EVENT IN A GRAND SETTING, THE FIRST PERMANENT SMITHSONIAN MUSEUM. e Arts and Industries Building was the rst Smithsonian building dedicated solely to the display of the national collections. Located on the National Mall, it was completed in 1881 in time to host President James Gar eld’s Inaugural Ball. e building’s capacity allows for up to a 2,000 person event. Four dramatic halls and a central rotunda are available separately or together for seated dinners, standing receptions, luncheons and other events. Events can be enhanced by incorporating the adjoining Enid A. Haupt Garden. Corporations and organizations supporting the Smithsonian with a contribution may celebrate their gi by co-sponsoring a special event in this landmark building.
