G rab a rod and reel and get ready to embark on a fishing adventure of a lifetime. Hire a charter and cast for trophy fish in the deep blue sea or spend some time dropping a line in world-famous lakes and rivers. No matter where your gear takes you, rest assured that in Louisiana, the fish are always biting. Head straight for the Gulf of Mexico in search of giants such as bull reds, tuna and blue marlin. Options are endless in Grand Isle, which boasts more than 280 species of fish. The barrier island hosts the nation’s oldest fishing tournament, the International Tarpon Rodeo, and the world’s largest extreme kayak fishing tournament, Ride the Bull. Nearby, Lafourche and Terrebonne parishes o er further access to the Gulf waters, as well as inland fishing in the waterways weaving through the area. Drive Highway 23 through Plaquemines Parish in search of Venice.
