THEME PARKS Young Heart AT Ignite vitality and delight with the exciting rides, cool entertainment and delicious food at the two theme parks. By Jenny Lee Allen My husband and I are kids at heart (true confession: we still love watching cartoons). So when we went looking for a way to take a quick break from our daily routine, it was only natural that we plan a trip to Universal Orlando™. With our little ones safe at home, we explored the two theme parks and became kids for a day. At Universal's Islands of Adventure™, we kickstarted our childhood nostalgia at Seuss Landing™, where we hopped onto elephant birds and dog-a-lopes, and rode the Caro-Seuss-el™. Ready to step it up thrills-wise, we headed for the recently revamped The Incredible Hulk Coaster®. I’m not going to lie—staring at the green monstrosity was intimidating. So we said a little prayer, shot up at 40 mph and looped so many times I lost count. The rush continued at Doctor Doom’s Fearfall®, where, again, a simple glance at the towering structure had my heart pounding. We rocketed 185 feet into the sky before screeching back toward earth. I think I'm still recovering. Topping our list of things to hit up at the park was the newest ride, Skull Island: Reign of Kong™. COUPLES GETAWAY AT UNIVERSAL ORLANDO RESORT™ We ventured into dense jungles and found ourselves wending our way through a mysterious temple and into the path of ferocious prehistoric predators. And when Kong appeared (he’s nearly three stories tall!), we could literally feel the heat of his fiery breath and vibrations of his roar permeate our cells. This ride engaged every one of our senses! My husband and I are both Harry Potter™ fans, so a er our adrenaline-infusion, we were determined to geek out at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ -Hogsmeade™ at Islands of Adventure™. We inspected Dumbledore’s o ice and the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom before an enchanted bench flew us around the castle on the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey™ ride. Thanks to our Park-to-Park tickets, we then boarded the Hogwarts™ Express train to Universal Orlando's second land of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ -Diagon Alley™ in Universal Studios Florida™. 14 Kissimmee Destination Magazine
