McCORMICK SQUARE Chicago’s newest neighborhood, McCormick Square , begins to unfold in 2017, with the opening of the new Marriott Marquis Chicago and Wintrust Arena . The community — situated between the South Loop, Chinatown, the Prairie District and Bronzeville — will attract tourists, convention goers and Chicagoans. It will include the McCormick Place convention center, the new 10,000-seat Wintrust Arena , the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place , the new Marriott Marquis Chicago , and an additional 400-to 500-room hotel project all connected under one roof via enclosed sky bridges. The area’s booming scene includes craft brewers Baderbräu , Motor Row Brewing , Vice District Brewing Co. and Moody Tongue Brewing Co. The 40-story, 1,205-room hotel will include 90,000 square feet of meeting space, two 25,000-square-foot ballrooms, a marketplace food court and a restaurant. WINTRUST ARENA Opening in 2017, this new 10,000-seat arena will feature 22 suites and 479 club seats, serving as a general session hall for large business meetings and conventions as well as a venue for concerts, sporting events and other major special events.
