Water is in play on many of the holes and coquina waste areas crop up frequently, but there are few forced carries necessary. This is a well-rounded course that will test a golfer’s shot-making ability. PAR: 72, YARDS: 7,043 property, this Arthur Hills-designed 18 places a premium on smarts as much as smashing it. The rough will get your attention and keep you focused on a ccuracy. It's diffi cult but fair. PAR: 72, YARDS: 6,984 Duran Golf Club, Championship Course Viera This is a newer facility that’s earned a quick reputation as a go-to public track. It’s built on a wide-open former cattle ranch and sod farm, and on the western outskirts of town, so your round can get trickier when the winds pick up. PAR: 72, YARDS: 7,151 Quail Valley Golf Club Vero Beach Designed by Tom Fazio and Nick Price, this course hosted the 2014 Florida State Amateur. The term “risk-reward” applies, as playing safe around the hazards is an option, but taking them on will tempt those chasing a score. Still, very few forced carries make an outing here survivable for high handicappers. A signature hole is the par-5 10th, surrounded on both sides by a massive lake in the middle of the property. PAR: 72, YARDS: 7,490 The Habitat at Valkaria Grant-Valkaria As much of a natural retreat as the name suggests, and a solid public course value, individual holes here recall styles more common at other points on the map–some links-ish and others rough-cut from the wild vegetation. PAR: 72, YARDS: 6,836 Victoria Hills Golf Club DeLand Ron Garl’s design here is a scenic wonder. Repetitive rolling dunes and swales mark your path, with an array of sand traps sculpted into fairways shadowed by oaks and pines. This course will have you using every club in your bag for a variety of shots before the bunkers even come into play.
