Top-Ranked Courses SouthWood Golf Club Tallahassee Meandering through stretches of open meadow, rolling hills, thickets of pine and oak trees and a wetland area, the course has a decidedly Old South feel. Designed by PGA Tour player Fred Couples and course architect Gene Bates, SouthWood has little water. Innovatively designed, the layout has cross bunkers on four holes, and massive oak trees are utilized as hazards on three others. There are six sets of tees on each hole, making the course playable for all skill levels. PAR: 72, YARDS: 7,172 this Gary Player designed layout winds through a wonderfully preserved upland hammock. The course is the centerpiece amenity in an upscale master-planned residential community a few miles west of the University of Florida. Maintenance standards are high and the staff takes great pride in preserving and enhancing the natural setting. Designed by Scottish architect Donald Ross, the course has undergone several renovations through the years.
