At the 2016 Virginia Craft Beer Cup Awards, Fair Winds Brewing Company, Caboose Brewing Company, and Lake Anne Brew House were all recognized as some of the Commonwealth’s best. national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, history, and culture. It became the 19th, and newest, museum of the Smithsonian Institution when it opened its doors to the public on the National Mall in Washington, DC in late 2016. Winery Awards Fairfax County’s two wineries, Paradise Springs Winery and The Winery at Bull Run, were both recognized as gold medalists at several prestigious events in 2016. Lives Bound Together: Slavery at George Washington’s Mount Vernon This new exhibit, open through September 2018, explores the personal stories of the people enslaved at Mount Vernon while providing insight into George Washington’s evolving opposition to slavery.
