Towering high above the treetops and juxtaposed against limitless skies, Mount Rushmore is an impressive tribute to freedom and democracy in America. The awe-inspiring granite sculpture features 60-foot faces of four U.S. presidents who helped shape the birth, expansion, development and preservation of the nation: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. Dive into the park’s history at the Lincoln Borglum Visitor Center, and stick around after dark to watch the powerful Sculpture Illumination and Evening Lighting Program, held nightly late May through September.
