Connecting Deadwood to Edgemont through the Black Hills is the 109-mile George S. Mickelson Trail. This crushed limestone pathway, a historic rail line, winds through the hills with over 100 railroad bridges and four rock tunnels. It weaves through the national forest and private lands and reveals a rich gold mining history. The non-motorized trail encourages everyone of all skill levels to take a trek by walking/running, horseback riding, or biking. To ensure its beauty can be enjoyed by all, those with physical limitations can reserve a spot during Trolley on the Trail events on select dates in the summer and fall.
