As the sun sets over the Black Hills and Badlands, the night sky sets up for a spectacular show. Take advantage of zero light pollution and marvel over thousands of stars visible in the sky, including the phenomenal clarity of the Milky Way Galaxy.

BADLANDS
Join park rangers in the summer after the Evening Program for Night Sky Viewing at Cedar Pass Campground Amphitheater. Rangers point out constellations and provide telescopes during Night Sky Programs, offering a unique view of the stars and planets.
WIND CAVE
Located under the vast prairie skies, Wind Cave National Park is ideal for stargazing. During the summer, rangers present a free dark sky program where you can learn about light pollution and Lakota Star Knowledge before viewing the open sky via telescope. Guided hikes educate you further, sharing the stories of how the stars shaped Lakota beliefs. You can also take part in full moon, new moon, and constellation hikes.

DEVILS TOWER
Experience the vast interstellar show at Devils Tower National Monument. The night sky not only delivers unique opportunities for photographers and outdoor enthusiasts, but also a chance to learn the cultural connection the universe has with the Native American tribes of the region. Special dark sky programming is held throughout the year.
