Stop by the park offices at Kooser and Laurel Hill state parks in Somerset or Ohiopyle State Park in Ohiopyle to rent snowshoes, free of charge — available on a first-come first-served basis. In Cooksburg, step into a snow-dusted postcard as you glide beneath the towering white pines and hemlocks of the “Forest Cathedral,” a National Natural Landmark in Cook Forest State Park. Rent your skis from the on-site Cooksburg Dry Goods Gift Shoppe, then retreat to a cozy cabin with a wood-burning fireplace at nearby Fair Winds in the Forest Cabins & Lodge.
At Promised Land State Park in Greentown, snowmobile along 23 miles of designated trails on state park and Delaware State Forest lands, or cross-country ski or snowshoe on the Bruce Lake Natural Area and Conservation Island trails.
