Know Before You Go
The state of South Carolina requires a salt and/or freshwater fishing license for residents and visitors. If fishing with a charter or at the pier, they will carry the fishing license for you. If fishing on your own (including shore fishing or boat/ pontoon rental) in fresh or saltwater, a license is needed. For more on licensing and requirements, visit DNR.SC.gov.
