QUEER WOMEN-FRIENDLY EVENTS IN THE CITY Queer women are sometimes not the target audience for LGBTQ events, so we have highlighted a few events in the city that are especially popular within the lesbian and queer-femme community. ASCENDANCE This monthly dance party is an infusion of soulful music, visual art, spiritual practices, and communal affirmation. Ascendance provides a safe and inclusive experience, welcoming all ethnic, gender, and sexual identities while centering Black and Brown cultures. Follow @ascen.dance on instagram for more info. GRRLSPOT GrrlSpot stages large-scale takeovers of popular bars and performance venues throughout the city. Their monthly dance parties feature local queer entertainers and large, eclectic crowds. GrrlSpot’s biggest events of the year take place during Pride Weekend and the Southern Decadence festival. Follow @grrlspot on instagram for more info. UHAUL With pop-up events like speed dating, skate nights, and where women who love women (and all queer-identfying people) can mix and mingle with pride. Follow @uhaul.events on instagram for more info. LGBTQ+ MUST-DOS EAT Clover Grill 900 Bourbon St. clovergrill.com Mona Lisa 1212 Royal St. monalisaneworleans.com Bijou 1014 N. Between the incredible fashion you’ll find on the street and the legendary performers who headline, it’s an amazing opportunity to network with people from all over the country. FAVORITE PLACES TO EAT If anyone knows me, you know I love to eat. I have a soft spot for Haitian cuisine because of my heritage, so naturally, Fritai is my favorite restaurant. Paladar 511 is a close second. FAVORITE OUTDOOR ATTRACTION Crescent Park takes the cake for this! There's tons of outdoor space, and it feels so refreshing just seeing people genuinely enjoying themselves and basking in the beauty that the park has to offer. FAVORITE BAR Phoenix is by far my favorite bar in the city. The neighborhood feels and the cackles you can hear from several blocks away make Phoenix a place where you can truly unwind. I’ve met some of the most amazing friends and had some of the best conversations of my life there.
