A MUSEUM FOR EVERY TRAVELER History lover? Art aficionado? Food fanatic? You’re in for a treat! FOR THE HISTORY BUFF Rich in history and more than 300 years old, the city offers many ways to go back in time, including the New Orleans African American Museum, Backstreet Cultural Museum, Le Musée de f.p.c., Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience, Lower Ninth Ward Living Museum, and the award-winning National WWII Museum. FOR THE ART LOVER From the Ogden Museum of Southern Art and McKenna Museum of African American Art to the New Orleans Museum of Art and adjoining Besthoff Sculpture Garden, there’s no shortage of exhibits to browse. Another option is StudioBE, a 35,000-square-foot warehouse focused on Black art and collaborations within the community. FOR THE KIDDOS The Louisiana Children’s Museum is an interactive, indoor/outdoor oasis for young learners. Mardi Gras World and the Audubon Zoo, Audubon Aquarium, Audubon Louisiana Nature Center, and Audubon Insectarium are all must-dos for the whole family. FOR THE FOODIE Love New Orleans food? There’s a museum for that! Browse food products from the South’s past and present at the Southern Food & Beverage Museum (and be sure to check out their calendar for cooking classes, demos, pop-ups, and more) or discover the history behind our most famous cocktail, the Sazerac, at Sazerac House. FOR THE MUSIC ENTHUSIAST The New Orleans Jazz Museum is full of wonderful exhibits on the city’s storied music history. Tremé’s Petit Jazz Museum provides a glimpse into New Orleans’ musical culture, from brass band second lines to jazz that pulsates throughout the city. FOR THE EXPERIENTIAL TRAVELER For a different type of museum visit, get a 360-degree view of the city at Vue Orleans or pull out the camera at JAMNOLA, an interactive, larger-than-life experience celebrating the city’s music, art, and culture.
