Morning Stop into the Logan County Visitor Information Center in Sterling for travel tips; then wander the town’s parks to see the “City of the Living Trees” and historical buildings adorned with murals of the area’s heritage. Get a look at life on the range at the Overland Trail Museum, dedicated to the branch of the 1860s Oregon Trail. Walk the Overland Trail Recreation Area for wildlife watching or fishing; or drive through Chimney Canyons to see stunning mesas, bluffs and buttes. Then pop into Parts & Labor Brewing Company for a taste of the local craft. Afternoon North Sterling State Park is a serene juxtaposition of high plains and bluffs. Fish the stocked lake for rainbow trout, set up camp and search for soaring bald eagles. Spend time on the birding trails north and south of Brush; or follow the tracks of Native Americans and frontiersmen along the Pawnee Pioneer Trail to Pawnee National Grassland. Trek to the Pawnee Buttes to snap pics of the sandstone formations and look for burrowing owls. Evening Migrate to Fort Morgan to stroll downtown. Explore farming, ranching and military roots at Fort Morgan Museum. For fast-paced fun, I-76 Speedway is packed with excitement April through October. Late summer and fall are chock full of fairs and concerts in all three towns, and nearby Jackson Lake State Park is a designated International Dark-Sky Park.
