Take a walk through history on St. Pete’s African American Heritage Trail. This self-guided walking tour makes stops at 19 historical Black landmarks, providing a unique glimpse into St. Pete’s Black history.
Begin the tour at the Dr. Carter G. Woodson Museum, located on historic 9th Avenue South in The Deuces District. The Woodson is home to stunning exhibits and hosts a wide range of events including musical performances and cultural discussions. Step outside to take a stroll through the Legacy Garden where you can take a quiet moment to reflect in the company of beautiful magnolias, roses and a fountain.
When you’re ready to fuel up after walking the trail, track down some delicious eats from a Black-owned business like the Pop Goes the Waffle food truck. Sara Fludd, master-chef, has been rocking the food truck scene since 2017, serving mouthwatering, handcrafted Liège-style waffles you can walk with.
For a variety of food options and nightlife activities, check out 22 South Food Hall and The Historic Manhattan Casino. 22 South’s menu offers “Southern Cuisine with an urban flair” along with a variety of culinary experiences under one roof.
