Cultural Highlights • More than seven decades of work to create a national memorial honoring women suffragists is now open to visit at the Turning Point Suffragist Memorial in Lorton. • Recently marking its first year, the National Museum of the United States Army in Fort Belvoir features state-of-the-art exhibits and incredible soldier stories. • In the museum at George Washington’s Mount Vernon, explore the new “Becoming Mount Vernon” exhibit, which takes a broader look at how Mount Vernon came to be, from Native Americans through Washington’s ownership and into current preservation efforts. • Vibrant colors in various shapes and sizes form a 400-foot-long, 70-foot-tall geometric – and very Instagrammable – mural at The Boro in Tysons. Be Entertained • An epicenter of culture in Tysons, Capital One Hall is a world-class performance venue drawing major concerts and touring Broadway plays. • Located 11 floors above Capital One Hall at Tysons, The Perch is an epic outdoor sky park with an open-air biergarten, public art, amphitheater and, coming in spring 2022, 18 holes of mini-golf. • Bloomingdale’s opened its first-ever Bloomie’s, a small-scale concept focused on fashion and lifestyle experiences, at Mosaic last fall. Pop by its Caribbean-inspired Colada Shop for delicious eats while shopping. • Luxury landmark Tysons Galleria welcomed a new wing of dining and entertainment options, including a CMX CinéBistro, a Bowlero, an outdoor plaza and streetscape, showrooms for retailers like Arhaus, RH and Crate & Barrel, as well as upscale common areas for recharging or resting. Sips & Eats • In 1799, George Washington’s Distillery & Gristmill crafted 11,000 gallons of whiskey. Today, it produces small-batch spirits you can sample in a new tasting room coming this year. • Sit under an umbrella on the seasonal patio and sip a sour blueberry-and-vanilla IPA (among other local craft beers) at Burke’s new Bunnyman Brewing or pay tribute to our nation’s heroes at Honor Brewing Co.’s new taproom in Chantilly. • Snack on traditional Persian cuisine and drink a sudsy German beer from one of the 40-foot-long shipping containers turned dining spots at Shipgarten in Tysons. New Hotel Openings The urban-chic boutique Archer Hotel Tysons comes complete with a classic bar and terrace that pay homage to the area’s peach-grove past. Connected to The Perch at Capital One Center, The Watermark Hotel offers incredible luxury, chef-driven meals and flexible meeting rooms, making it a hot spot for business and leisure travelers alike.
