DEAR FRIENDS,

Welcome to the beautiful state of Nebraska!

Pete Ricketts

Our state is a place of tremendous natural beauty. From the Missouri River Valley to the Sandhills that roll into Pine Ridge, we have a diverse landscape with diverse experiences all across our state. There’s so much for you to discover.

This year, I hope you explore Nebraska. Consider heading outdoors this fall to one of our state parks. Or, this winter, snowshoe through the open prairie. Each spring and summer, you can witness the jaw-dropping sandhill crane migration on the banks of the Platte River, or let the water crash over you at the state’s largest waterfall, Smith Falls.

In addition to our great outdoors, Nebraska boasts a mix of modern living and small town life all across the state. In Omaha, you can enjoy the College World Series in the heart of the city, The Old Market. Near Mitchell, you can watch hot air balloons fill the sky, with the Scotts Bluff National Monument as a backdrop at the Old West Balloon Fest.

At the end of your journey, you might discover why the state that may not be for everyone is for you. Enjoy its natural beauty, breathtaking scenery and thriving urban entertainment.

On behalf of the state of Nebraska and our tourism industry, welcome! I trust you will find all the information you need in this guide to make your trip a truly memorable one.
