For some outdoor adventure, go hiking and have a picnic near the Prettyboy Reservoir in Hampstead and explore the 20-mile-long Torrey C. Brown Rail Trail in Monkton. Or, check out one of the many farms in this rural area—known for their hayrides, corn mazes, and treats like those at Kilby Cream dairy farm, a “cow-to-cone” ice creamery on Maryland’s Best Ice Cream Trail. In Pylesville, take the kids to the Eden Mill Nature Center & Historic Grist Mill. Stop in Rising Sun, which offers a variety of fun options such as a vineyard, NHRA-sanctioned dragway, trout fishing, hiking, and trail riding at the Fair Hill Stables. Nearby Fair Hill International is home to some of the most intense equestrian events out there, including the Maryland 5 Star.
