Western Kentucky BBQ Trail
If you want to eat some of the best barbecue in Kentucky – maybe even all of America – travel to western Kentucky, which has its own unique style. People come from around the country and the world just to get a taste of this savory cooking. The Western Kentucky BBQ Trail begins in the city of Louisville and moves through western Kentucky all the way to Paducah, featuring restaurants each serving up their own tasty awardwinning recipes for slowcooked pork, chicken and mutton.
Fried Chicken Trail
The Colonel’s famous recipe that launched Kentucky Fried Chicken began at his restaurant in Corbin in 1930, and soon put Kentucky on the map as the place for true Southern fried chicken. But the legacy of fried chicken in Kentucky goes far beyond the Colonel. Many restaurants around the state are contenders for bestfried chicken in Kentucky. In addition, the World Chicken Festival held every September in London features familyfriendly activities, live music and some of the best fried chicken you will find anywhere.
Hot Brown Hop
First created in the 1920s for guests of the Brown Hotel in Louisville, the iconic Hot Brown is now synonymous with Kentucky and comfort food. Today, the Hot Brown tradition continues in a number of restaurants in the Louisville area and beyond. Follow your stomach and the Hot Brown Hop to determine your favorite version!
Country Ham Trail
Kentucky is home to the world’s greatest country ham producers. Throughout the state, you’ll find triedandtrue enthusiasts and producers who have been in business for more than 100 years. There’s also an entire festival dedicated to this savory meat: Ham Days in Lebanon attracts ham lovers from around the world. A longstanding tradition among Kentucky’s farmers, country ham has experienced a resurgence on eclectic menus from rural towns to big cities – and is sometimes even cured inside bourbon rick houses.
Beer Cheese Trail
Kentucky beer cheese has been made and served in Winchester and Clark County since the 1940s, when it was first served at John Allman’s Driftwood Inn restaurant. In the many years since, beer cheese has become a regional favorite, celebrated along a trail of restaurants that make and serve the delectable appetizer to eager visitors. Be sure to stop by at least one of these establishments for a taste of authentic Kentucky beer cheese!
Sweets Trails
Whether you are in search of handmade Kentucky chocolates, perfect doughnuts, milehigh meringue pie or worldfamous bourbon balls, you can find it all in Kentucky. There are culinary icons such as Rebecca Ruth Candy Company, famous for first making the bourbonfilled Kentucky chocolates known as bourbon balls. This trail takes you through some of Kentucky’s most popular spots for dining, shopping and fun, including Lexington, Louisville, Bowling Green and Paducah.
Sugar and Spice Trail
Whether traveling through the Northern Kentucky area for a few hours or several days, there are plenty of opportunities to satisfy your “sweet tooth” as you follow the Northern Kentucky Sugar and Spice Trail. Find local specialties like tasty chocolates, classic candies and plenty of unique herbs and spices.
Bon Appétit Appalachia
Bon Appetit Appalachia promotes the Appalachian Region of the United States, including Kentucky, featuring a variety of local farm markets, restaurants, wineries, craft breweries, bed and breakfasts, and more! Jump in your car and travel to some of the wonderful places that make up Appalachia.

Kentucky is the home of the first commercial vineyard in America, and today vineyards and wineries are again dotting Kentucky’s landscape and producing awardwinning wines.This trail allows you to visit Kentucky’s wineries and vineyards for a journey to discover great new wines, or simply enjoy a great tour of beautiful countryside.

Other Bourbon Distilleries
Other Kentucky bourbon distilleries are also located in Bourbon Country. Distilleries such as Buffalo Trace and Barton 1792 Distillery are definitely worth visiting, and offer exciting tours and free tastings of fine bourbons.
Urban Bourbon Trail
The Urban Bourbon Trail in downtown Louisville consists of “the world’s best bourbon bars,” all of which must serve at least 50 different kinds of bourbon and hold at least one bourbonrelated event each month. Many of these bars and local restaurants even specialize in bourbonrelated food dishes to please your palate.
