The Complete Event Experience McCORMICK PLACE SOUTH The largest convention center in North America, McCormick Place is getting even bigger and better. McCORMICK SQUARE Chicago’s newest neighborhood, McCormick Square, begins to unfold in 2017, with the opening of the new Marriott Marquis Chicago and Wintrust Arena. The community — situated between the South Loop, Chinatown, the Prairie District and Bronzeville — will attract tourists, convention goers and Chicagoans. It will include the McCormick Place convention center, the new 10,000-seat Wintrust Arena, the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, the new Marriott Marquis Chicago, and an additional 400- to 500-room hotel project all connected under one roof via enclosed sky bridges. The area’s booming scene includes craft brewers Baderbräu, Motor Row Brewing, Vice District Brewing Co. And Moody Tongue Brewing Co. Nearby dining spans comfort food at Reggies, Chicago-style pies at Pizano’s Pizza and Pasta, barbecue and whiskey-based sauces at Rylon’s Smokehouse, and modern steakhouse selections at The Chicago Firehouse. WINTRUST ARENA Opening in 2017, this new 10,000-seat arena will feature 22 suites and 479 club seats, serving as a general session hall for large business meetings and conventions as well as a venue for concerts, sporting events and other major special events. Wintrust Arena will also serve as home to the DePaul University men’s and women’s basketball teams. MARRIOTT MARQUIS CHICAGO Across the street from McCormick Place, the first Marriott Marquis Chicago hotel is set to open in the fall of 2017. The 40-story, 1,205-room hotel will include 90,000 square feet of meeting space, two 25,000-squarefoot ballrooms, a marketplace food court and a restaurant. HYATT REGENCY MCCORMICK PLACE The on-site Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, a AAA Four-Diamond hotel with 1,258 guest rooms and four on-site dining options, has undergone a major expansion and renovation, providing a new guest room, meeting space and public areas experience. McCORMICK PLACE SKY BRIDGE Other exciting additions include two pedestrian sky bridges linking the Marriott Marquis to McCormick Place West, incorporating the historic American Book Company Building into the hotel and a public park near the venue. McCORMICK PLACE SHOW FLOOR McCormick Place received APEX certification for sustainability, and the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place earned LEED Gold certification in 2014 for its 462-room tower. The meeting and event space is now powered by wind energy, offsetting 100 percent of its energy consumption through Green-e Renewable Energy Certificates. The rooftop garden is among the largest in the U.S. and the largest modular green roof in the world. This farm-to-fork garden yields 8,000 pounds of produce and houses 30,000 honeybees. The garden partners with the seasonal South Loop Farmers Market to provide sustainable local agriculture to guests through catering services.
