The Chicago Transit Authority’s ‘L’ rail system has eight lines and 145 stations, making it a fast and efficient way for convention attendees to get to and from their destination. GET THERE TO DOWNTOWN FROM CHICAGO’S AIRPORTS From O’Hare International Airport: The CTA ‘L’ station (Blue Line) is accessible via O’Hare’s lower level in Terminal 2 and transports riders downtown in approximately 40 minutes. From Midway International Airport: The CTA ‘L’ Station (Orange Line) is accessible from Midway Airport’s Transportation Center, which is connected by a walkway east of the terminal and transports riders to the Loop (downtown) in approximately 35 minutes. TO AND FROM MCCORMICK PLACE Located at the intersection of State and Cermak, the new Cermak-McCormick Place Green Line station is approximately a 10-minute trip from the Clark/ Lake ‘L’ station in the Loop. From Downtown: Access the Green Line train along Lake Street or Wabash Avenue going toward Cottage Grove or Ashland/63rd. From McCormick Place: To travel downtown and connect to all rail lines, take the Green Line toward Harlem/Lake. Transfer at Adams/Wabash to access the Orange, Pink, Purple (rush) and Brown Lines, at Lake to transfer to the Red Line, or stop at Clark/Lake to transfer to the Blue Line. SIGHTSEEING ALONG THE ‘L’ Chinatown: The Cermak-Chinatown Red Line ‘L’ station delivers you to one of the largest Chinatown neighborhoods in the country. Millennium Park and Jay Pritzker Pavilion: These major outdoor destinations host everything from free concerts to yoga classes. From the Loop, exit the Blue Line at Washington or the Red Line at Lake. You can also take the Orange, Green, Pink, Purple (rush) or Brown Lines to the Randolph/Wabash station and walk east to the park. Museum Campus/South Loop: Take the Red, Green or Orange Line to the Roosevelt stop and head east to Lake Shore Drive. Museum Campus awaits with The Field Museum, Adler Planetarium and the Shedd Aquarium, as well as Northerly Island and 12th Street Beach. Navy Pier: From the Loop, take the Red Line toward Howard and get off at the Grand stop where you can access a free trolley to Navy Pier daily between Memorial Day and Labor Day (available on Saturdays and Sundays year-round). Shopping on The Magnificent Mile: From the Red Line, exit at the Chicago station and walk three blocks east. HOT TIP: The CTA provides two free transfers within two hours of travel.
