This brings much-needed relaxation in advance of Breckenridge Oktoberfest (Sept. 8-10, 2017), a three-day party offering a mix of traditional brews from Munich's Paulaner and local flavor from Breckenridge Brewery. As fall colors begin to peak, the Breckenridge Wine Classic brings together master sommeliers, chefs and winemakers. The festival, setfor Sept. 14-17, 2017, combines a grand tasting in the historic Arts District, seminars and demos with town's outdoor adventures to create a weekend of fine food and foliage. Near the end of October (dates TBA), the Breckenridge Craft Spirits Festival highlights the best of artisan distilling with a grand tasting, spirits-themed cooking class, restaurant specials, a downtown pub crawl and historic saloon tours. Born of Colorado's - and the nation's - rapidly-growing craft spirits industry, the Breckenridge fest was the first of its kind in Colorado. FAMILIES, ART & CULTURE The Breckenridge Film Festival, one of the oldest in the nation, celebrates the spirit of exploration Sept. 21-24, 2017 with the popular Adventure Reel. A children's program, Colorado films and numerous opportunities to engage with filmmakers makes this an approachable event for all. As temperatures cool, families can get geared up for Halloween with the annual Fall Fest (midOctober. Dates TBA). Fall-themed activities include build-yourown- caramel-apples, pumpkin painting, bounce houses and a costume parade. Even better? It's all free. BreckCreate's Dia de los Muertos community celebration, October 20-22, 2017, showcases traditional Aztec dancers, crafts and art installations. Activities including Aztec dance workshops, face painting, sugar skull painting and a candlelight vigil are appropriate for families. OUTDOOR ADVENTURE By September. The afternoon rain showers dissipate and there's no better time to tackle an end-of-summer mountain bike ride, high peak ascent or overnight fishing trip. Athletes can test their endurance with races such as the Breck Crest mountain marathon, Breckenridge Road Marathon or Fall Classic mountain-bike race.
