GETTING YOUR BEARINGS
Maryland’s diverse landscape ranges from the rugged terrain of Western Maryland to warm Eastern Shore beaches. We also have the wide-open, river-laced land of Southern Maryland and the rolling countryside that characterizes much of Maryland’s northern border. But no matter how far you go in the state, you’re never more than a few hours from bustling Central Maryland cities such as Baltimore and Annapolis.
Maryland Scenic Byways have been especially designed to completely immerse you in a travel theme, such as small-town Main Streets, the Civil War or “Horse Country.” The routes range in drive time from a couple of hours to a couple of days, especially if you plan on stopping to participate in recreational side trips.
