MARY CASSATT 1844 – 1926 Born in Pittsburgh, this painter and printmaker was known for her bright, light Impressionist paintings—a style she picked up in France and under the mentorship of Edgar Degas. See her paintings at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. ANDY WARHOL 1928 – 1987 You might know him from his famous Campbell’s soup cans, but this pop artist also created films, illustrations, and multimedia events. See his works at The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh or one of the many PA universities that display his artwork in their galleries. THOMAS EAKINS 1844 – 1916 This realist painter was born and lived most of his life in Philadelphia. His works often focused on the human figure while swimming, rowing in the Schuylkill River, and engaging in other pastimes. His works are also at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. ANDREW WYETH 1917 – 2009 A realist painter who lived in Chadds Ford, Wyeth focused his artistic eye capturing the land and people around him. Visit his hometown to see the Andrew Wyeth Studio, as well as his works displayed in the Brandywine Museum of Art. KEITH HARING 1958 – 1990 Bold, flashy graphics born from graffiti culture define the work of this artist, who was born in Reading.
