National Capitol Columns at the National Arboretum
PARKS & RECREATION
The National Arboretum provides 446 acres of natural bliss, including gardens, trails and the historic National Capitol Columns, which once stood on the East Portico of the U.S. Capitol building.
C&O Canal
Marvel at the historic house and garden at Tudor Place, set in the middle of scenic Georgetown. Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens, once the home of cereal company heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post, features a stunning house with classic French and Russian art, as well as beautiful gardens.
Bike, run or walk along the gorgeous C&O Canal and catch amazing views of the Potomac River (you may see some wildlife, too). A short drive into Virginia can bring you to Great Falls Park, where you can choose from an array of trails that take you right to the river.
ON THE WATERFRONT
Rent a canoe or kayak at the Key Bridge Boathouse or at Thompson’s Boat Center to paddle along the Potomac and enjoy the breathtaking DC skyline.
Take a dinner or lunch cruise aboard the Odyssey or The Spirit of Washington. These floating restaurants also provide views of the monuments and on-board entertainment.
Kick back for a meal at Farmers Fishers Bakers before taking a stroll on the Washington Harbour – Instagrammable shots abound. To satisfy a sweet tooth, grab a scoop from Ice Cream Jubilee in Capitol Riverfront, then take a walk through The Yards Park.

Gravelly Point, situated at the north end of **Reagan National Airport’**s runway, has plenty of space for a picnic as you watch planes take off and land overhead.
In Capitol Riverfront, Canal Park supplies ample picnic areas for families and benches for relaxing. Kids will love running through the dancing fountains when the weather is warm.
Kenilworth Park & Aquatic Gardens features beautiful water lilies and lotus flowers during the summer time, as well as green space for picnicking. You may even spot an animal or two while you enjoy your lunch!

The Washington Nationals are a must-see from April to September. The 2016 National League East champions feature All-Stars Bryce Harper, Daniel Murphy and Max Scherzer. D. C. United rocks RFK Stadium throughout spring and summer. The most decorated U. S. soccer team ever has stars in goalie Bill Hamid and forward Patrick Mullins.
