FLORIDA TOLL ROAD INFO Planning a Florida roadtrip? Keep in mind that some of the state’s toll roads no longer accept cash. Such roadways include the Florida Turnpike, Golden Glades Interchange in northern Miami-Dade County and the Veterans Expressway in Hillsborough County. To pay the tolls, you can either purchase a SunPass (available at SunPass.com and at many retailers, including Publix, CVS and Walgreens) or pay via toll-by-plate. CERTIFIED VISITOR INFORMATION CENTERS For visitors crossing into the state by car, Official Florida Welcome Centers are a welcome sight — and not just because of the fresh cup of Florida orange (or grapefruit) juice that awaits them. Visitors have access to valuable vacation resources such as a staff of Certified Information Specialists, maps, brochures and a variety of amenities. Continuing the genuine Florida vacation experience, VISIT FLORIDA also offers more than 50 Certified Visitor Information Centers around the state. They’re indicated on the map with an orange star icon . These facilities undergo a site visit before receiving VISIT FLORIDA’s seal of approval. They must meet certain requirements, such as having a convenient location, providing accessible parking and restrooms, and operating a minimum of five days per week year-round.
