EXPERIENCE THE RALLY ROAR AND SO MUCH MORE Sturgis is synonymous with motorcycles. Known worldwide for the motorcycle rally that’s held annually in August, this Black Hills town has year-round thrills for visitors from all walks of life. Shop along Main Street, then grab a bite at The Knuckle Saloon and Brewery, Loud American Roadhouse and other eateries. Uncover motorcycling history at the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame. The curated collection is continuously changing. See nearly 100 cars at the Sturgis Car Museum, including rare Saabs from the GM Heritage Collection and the oldest Saab in the country. Located at the southern entrance to Sturgis, Vanocker Canyon is a favorite cruise for locals. Wine enthusiasts can take vineyard tours, see the wine-making process and finish with a wine tasting at Belle Joli Winery Sparkling House. Their sparkling wines are made from their vineyard on the property. Boulder Canyon, at the western edge of town, connects Sturgis to Deadwood. Stop along the way to play 18 holes of golf at Boulder Canyon Golf Club at Apple Springs. The mystical Bear Butte, long sacred to the Plains Indians, rises 4,426 feet above sea level north of town. Hike to the top from Bear Butte State Park for a view that covers three states. Nearby, Fort Meade Recreation Area has almost 7,000 acres of public land. Pets are welcome. Camping is allowed at both the Alkali Creek Trailhead and Alkali Creek Horse Camp. Sturgis is home to legendary fun, including the Off-Road Rally, Sept. 11 to 13, 2020; the Sturgis Camaro Rally, June 25 to 28, 2020; the AMA Sturgis Supermoto Race, Sept. 11 and 12; and the Sturgis Mustang Rally, Aug. 31 to Sept. 6, 2020. The Music on Main music series is held at Harley-Davidson Rally Point on Wednesdays in June and July 2020.
