Each season in Sonoma County has its own beauty and special charm. Find out what to expect year-round as you decide when to plan your special day. Spring (March through May) In spring, the weather starts to warm up and riotous colors paint Sonoma County’s landscape as blossoms begin to open. Gardens are flourishing, and local farms come alive with newborn lambs and calves. There’s still a chance of some rainy days in springtime, so it’s best to have an indoor backup plan if you’re hoping for outdoor festivities. Summer (June through August) Summer means new clusters of grapes are hanging on the vines as harvest season approaches. Days are sunny and hot, cooling to a perfect temperature for an evening event. The later summer sunset means there’s lots of time to enjoy the stunning vineyard views throughout the cocktail hour and reception. Guests will appreciate the wide range of summer activities, from concerts to kayaking to hiking and more. Fall (September through November) This is harvest season, which means it’s also one of the busiest—and most popular—times of year. Sonoma County bustles with activity as the winegrowers and farmers bring in their bounty, so your guests will have no problem finding things to do. The weather is mostly warm and pleasant. In late October, the vineyards transition to bright oranges, reds, and yellows that make for incredible photo backdrops. Winter (December through February) In winter, rain brings rolling green hills and the happy yellow color of wild mustard blooms in dormant vineyards. Temperatures remain mild, but the weather may be cool with the occasional mist, rain, or fog. You can still have a quintessential Wine Country wedding in winter, especially if you opt for an indoor venue.
