Discover lakes, forests, prairies, charming river towns and bustling cities in the state’s five regions.

Each region offers adventure, culture and curiosity. City lovers will find daily events and world-class museums in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area; nature buffs will want to explore the North Shore of Lake Superior, northwest and central lakes regions; and small-town charm is the hallmark of southern Minnesota.

NORTHEAST MINNESOTA

Rugged & Cultured

Wild forests, majestic lakes and tumbling waterfalls make a beautiful backdrop for outdoor adventures, while the seaport city of Duluth, nestled on Lake Superior, is the region’s cultural anchor.

MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL

The Twin Cities

This incredibly diverse metro area is known for arts and culture, dining, theater, shopping and events. Outdoor enthusiasts will also find plenty to love.

CENTRAL MINNESOTA

The Heart of It

Fishing, boating, floating and all that lake life has to offer are the quintessential draws. Plus, there are more than 70 scenic golf courses, miles of mountain biking trails and charming main streets to explore.

NORTHWEST MINNESOTA

The Great Wide North

Wilderness areas are a big lure. Find some of the state’s largest lakes, most dramatic wildlife and the headwaters of the Mississippi River, but don’t leave without uncovering some of the cultural gems like Nemeth Art Center and the museum at the Hjemkomst Center.

SOUTHERN MINNESOTA

Charming by Nature

Filled with quiet streams and quaint towns, this part of the state also offers some big attractions: lakes, rivers, bluffs, caves, nature centers, historic sites, art museums and more.
