The Presidio is a former military base reborn as part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The Richmond District houses a major art museum and one of San Francisco’s top foodie streets.

SEE & DO

Soak up the city’s history at Fort Point, located at the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge. Nearby Baker Beach is where many locals go to sunbathe. Spend a day in the Outer Richmond to enjoy windswept hiking trails at Lands End, fine art at the Legion of Honor or a round of golf at Lincoln Park Golf Course. Close by is one of the city’s most Insta-worthy locales: the Lincoln Park Steps, a wide staircase adorned with a colorful tile mosaic.

EAT & DRINK

Clement Street in the Richmond District is San Francisco’s de facto second Chinatown, and you’ll find some of the city’s best Chinese food at Good Luck Dim Sum and Dragon Beaux (on nearby Geary Street). More culinary treasures are found at Pearl 6101, where the chicory caesar is a neighborhood favorite, and Cinderella Bakery & Café, which has served meat-filled piroshki and other Russian staples since 1953. Locals line up at Arsicault Bakery for flaky chocolate croissants and creamy Parisian flan — and we must say they’re worth the wait.

WHERE TO STAY

Relaxation is on the agenda at Inn at the Presidio and Lodge at the Presidio, both a short stroll to green spaces like Crissy Field and Tunnel Tops. Take advantage of the many short-term rentals to really make yourself at home in the neighborhood.
